Ludhiana: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted a raid at the residence of Gurpreet Singh Prince, nephew of Punjab Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian. The search operation began around 2.30pm and was still underway at the time of reporting.
The arrival of ED officials along with police personnel at Prince’s house for the search operation created concern among residents in the area.
According to sources, Prince is often seen with his uncle, Hardeep Singh Mundian, at various events. A family acquaintance said Prince lives in a 100-square-yard house behind the cabinet minister’s office. His wife works at Tata Steel in Dhanansu.
The acquaintance claimed that Prince was planning to move permanently to New Zealand within about a week and that the raid had come as a surprise to people in Sahnewal.
Sources further claimed that although Prince’s house is small, the colony where it is located was allegedly developed by the minister and that the Mundian family also has a farmhouse there.
A source claimed that Prince regularly accompanied the minister and allegedly handled his financial matters and businesses.
