Kathmandu: A 64-year-old woman was rescued alive from the rubble of her damaged home in Nuwakot, Nepal, 11 days after floods and landslides struck the region.
Rescue teams pulled Chandrika Shrestha from the remains of the house on Saturday. She was found unconscious and is being airlifted to Kathmandu for medical treatment.
The floods followed landslides near the Nepal-Tibet border, with rescue and relief operations continuing since the disaster.
In another rescue operation, three Indian nationals, including a five-year-old child, were safely evacuated from the Trishuli Bazaar area.
According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs, 169 Indians have been rescued so far, while 275 remain missing.
Nepal has reported around 1,344 deaths in the disaster, while more than 12,000 people have been rescued. More than 5,300 people are still reported missing, while government figures indicate that over 32,000 people have been affected by the floods.
Authorities continue to carry out search-and-rescue operations in affected areas.
