New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday urged young people to avoid taking shortcuts in life, saying that an easy or hurried approach to challenges can ultimately prove harmful.
Speaking at the launch of former President Ram Nath Kovind’s autobiography, Triumph of the Indian Republic: My Life, My Struggles, Modi drew an analogy with railway safety warnings and the influence of social media.
“It is the age of reels… influencers can take you from one place to another,” Modi said, stressing the importance of choosing the right path rather than looking for quick solutions. He added, “Short cut will cut you short.”
‘Developed India’ needs resilient youth
Modi said the goal of building a developed India would be achieved through the efforts of young people who are not discouraged by difficulties but face challenges with determination and emerge stronger.
Referring to Kovind’s life, the Prime Minister described the former president as an example of how courage and perseverance can help overcome adversity.
Kovind lost his mother at a young age and was raised by his father. Modi said that despite reaching the country’s highest constitutional office, Kovind continued to regard his father as his hero.
Modi praises Kovind’s humility
The Prime Minister also highlighted Kovind’s humility, recalling his visits to Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Modi said Kovind would often personally accompany him to his car despite protocol, even though Modi had asked him not to do so. He said Kovind never abandoned his humility.
Modi stressed that the higher a person rises in life, the more humble they should remain.
The Prime Minister released Kovind’s autobiography, which he described as an account of the former president’s inspirational life, struggles and efforts to serve society.
