PM Modi inaugurates new Parliament building

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Parliament building on Sunday morning. Dressed in traditional attire, Modi entered the Parliament complex from gate number 1 and was received by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. 
     The Prime Minister performed the ‘Ganapati Homam’ ritual amid chanting of Vedic mantras by the priests of Sringeri Mutt in Karnataka to seek god’s blessings at the inauguration of the new Parliament building.
    The Prime Minister saluted ‘Sengol’ (scepter) and took the blessings of priests of various subordinates of Tamil Nadu with a holy sceptre in his hand. Amid chants of ‘Nadaswaram’, Prime Minister Modi took Sengol to the new Parliament building and installed it in a special place to the right of the Speaker’s seat in the Lok Sabha chamber.
