Soldier killed in accidental fire along LoC in Poonch
A soldier was shot dead by a bullet from his own service rifle along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, police said on Sunday.
Constable Amritpal Singh was posted at the front post in Mankote sector. When his colleague reached there after hearing the sound of firing at 5 am, he saw Amritpal Singh lying in a pool of blood. Preliminary investigation revealed that he was hit by a bullet fired from his service rifle. It will be investigated whether the soldier committed suicide or the bullet from his service rifle went off by mistake.
