With his demise, I have lost a father figure who guided me for decades. In more ways than one, he shaped the politics of India and Punjab, which can be called unprecedented.
It is generally believed that Badal Sahib was a big leader. But, above all, he was a man with a big heart. It is easy to be a big leader but there is a lot more to be done to be big hearted. People from all over Punjab say – Badal Sahib’s talk was different! (‘Badal Sahib ki baat alag thi’).
It can be said with certainty that Parkash Singh Badal Sahib is one of the tallest peasant leaders of our times. Agriculture was his real hobby. Whenever he spoke on any occasion, his speeches were full of facts, up-to-date information and a lot of personal insight.
