Washington: US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation to discuss Iran, Ukraine and other international issues, the Kremlin said on Thursday.
While discussing the situation around Iran, Putin emphasised the need to resolve all issues through political and diplomatic means, according to his foreign affairs adviser Yuri Ushakov. The conversation comes days after the US carried out strikes on three centres in Iran on June 22.
On the Ukraine conflict, Ushakov said Trump called for an immediate end to the fighting.
Putin, however, said he was ready to continue talks with Kiev but insisted that Ukraine should drop its NATO membership aspirations and recognise Russia’s territorial advantages for any possible peace deal.
