Hisar: Jyoti Malhotra, a YouTuber from Hisar, Haryana, has been arrested on charges of spying for Pakistan. She appeared in court for the sixth time on Monday (July 7) in connection with the espionage case and was remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.
Malhotra was arrested during Operation Sindoor by the Indian Army following the Pahalgam terror attack. According to reports, 12 cases, including charges of espionage, have been filed against her.
Meanwhile, in response to a Right to Information (RTI) petition, it has been revealed that Malhotra had previously visited Kerala on the invitation of the state government.
Kerala Tourism Minister PA Mohammed Riyas confirmed that Malhotra, along with several other vloggers, had been invited to promote Kerala tourism, with the government bearing all expenses.
“We had invited YouTubers to Kerala with good intentions. Everyone knows about it. This has happened in the past as well. Do you think the state government invited Jyoti for spying and gave her all the help she deserved?” the minister said, defending the state’s decision.
The case has sparked political and public debate, with authorities continuing to investigate the allegations against Malhotra.
