Ajmer: Two people were killed and over six others injured after a violent clash broke out between two groups at a meat shop in Ajmer’s Ramganj area on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased have been identified as Imran Qureshi, 45, and his nephew Shahnawaz Qureshi, 22.

The incident took place at the Pakeezah meat shop near HMT following a verbal dispute between the groups. All the injured have been admitted to Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital for treatment. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.

According to police, the dispute stemmed from a disagreement over chicken rates and mutual rivalry.

Injured victim Salman Qureshi told police that on Monday night, a man named Allahrakha had called him to Diggi Bazar for a meeting, but the meat vendors did not go. This led to a heated exchange over the phone.

On Tuesday, Imran was called to the shop on the pretext of reconciliation, but Abdul Ali, Ehsan, Allahrakha, Salman Titu, Napu, and Awez arrived from Diggi Bazar and attacked Imran and his associates with knives and swords, police said.
