New Delhi: A fire broke out in the auxiliary power unit (APU) of an Air India flight after it landed at Delhi airport on Tuesday afternoon. All passengers and crew are safe, the airline said.

The incident took place shortly after flight AI 315 from Hong Kong landed and parked at the gate. “On July 22, 2025, a fire broke out in an auxiliary power unit (APU) shortly after flight AI 315 from Hong Kong to Delhi landed and parked at the gate,” an Air India spokesperson said.

The fire occurred as passengers were disembarking, and the APU automatically shut down as per system design. The spokesperson said there was some damage to the aircraft, but passengers and crew had by and large disembarked and are safe.

“The aircraft has been stopped from flying for further investigation and the regulator has been informed as per the rules,” the spokesperson added.
