Chandigarh: The Punjab government has declared a gazetted holiday across the state on July 31 to mark the martyrdom day of Shaheed Udham Singh. All government offices, schools, and colleges will remain closed on the day.

In a tribute to the revolutionary freedom fighter, the Bhawanigarh-Sunam road will be renamed as Shaheed Udham Singh Marg.

An official notification regarding both the holiday and the road renaming has been issued.

Punjab Cabinet Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state president Aman Arora announced during a press conference in Chandigarh that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal will jointly inaugurate the newly named road on Thursday.
