New Delhi: Following the Centre’s action over objectionable content on social media platforms, Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has issued an official blog outlining its measures to combat child exploitation and reaffirming its commitment to child safety.
In the statement, Meta described child exploitation as a “heinous crime” that cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.
The company said it is taking strict action against such illegal activities both on and beyond its platforms and remains fully committed to providing a safe online environment for children.
Meta stated that its technical teams are continuously working to detect offenders and remove child exploitation-related content from its platforms. The company added that it is collaborating with law enforcement agencies, local authorities and police across multiple countries by sharing relevant information to support investigations and enable swift legal action.
The company also said it is introducing additional safety features and warning systems to identify and block suspicious activities at an early stage. According to Meta, these measures are aimed at preventing child exploitation and ensuring that young users are protected from harmful content and online abuse.
The statement comes after the Central Government intensified its scrutiny of social media platforms over digital safety and child protection concerns.
