New Delhi: Thursday marked the ninth day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, with the opposition raising strong objections over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar voters and the US decision to impose fresh tariffs on Indian goods.

Tensions escalated after US President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced a 25% tariff on Indian imports, effective from August 1. The development sparked criticism from opposition leaders, including Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi.

“Everyone has seen what the US President said on tariffs. PM Modi goes everywhere, makes friends and then this is what we get in return,” Priyanka said.

Earlier in the day, Priyanka Gandhi and other INDIA bloc MPs staged a protest at the Makar Gate of Parliament against the Bihar voter verification process. Opposition leaders have alleged that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise could lead to voter suppression.

Meanwhile, leaders of the INDIA alliance held a meeting at 10 am in the office of the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Rajya Sabha to chalk out a strategy for the coming days.
