Four pilgrims from Moga killed, 29 injured in Himachal accident

Chandigarh: Four pilgrims from Bhagike village in Moga district’s Nihal Singh Wala sub-division were killed and 29 others injured in a road accident on the Chamunda–Dharamshala road in Himachal Pradesh. The victims had gone to visit the Chamunda Devi temple, and a couple was among the dead.

Police said the incident occurred when the Mahindra pickup carrying the devotees veered off the road while returning to Bhagike after darshan. One woman died on the spot, while three others — a woman and two men — succumbed to injuries during treatment at Rajindra Prasad Medical College and Hospital, Tanda.

The deceased have been identified as Sukhjinder Singh, his wife Kiran, Paramjit Kaur, and Jagseer Singh Sira. The injured include the pickup driver Nirbhay Singh (34) and conductor Angrez Singh (38), both from the same village.

As news of the accident spread, a pall of gloom descended over Bhagike. The village sarpanch and other residents rushed to check on the injured and bring back the bodies.
