Patna: The Election Commission (EC) on Monday released the names of 65 lakh people who were deleted from the draft electoral rolls in Bihar as part of the special comprehensive revision (SIR) process, officials said.
The move comes in compliance with the Supreme Court’s direction to make the details of deleted voters public by August 19 and submit a compliance report by August 22.
The EC has been publishing the names of ‘ASD’ voters—those marked absent, shifted or dead—at polling booths, and officials said the lists are also likely to be made available online in line with the apex court’s order.
According to Bihar’s Chief Electoral Officer, ASD lists have already been displayed at polling booths in districts including Rohtas, Begusarai and Arwal.
