Mumbai: Reports surfaced on Friday claiming that Sunita Ahuja, wife of actor Govinda, has filed for divorce in the Bandra Family Court, accusing him of cruelty and relations with other women.
According to entertainment portal Hotterfly, Sunita moved court under Section 13(1)(i), (ia), (ib) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955.
The report claimed the family court had summoned Govinda on May 25 and that since June, the couple had been attempting a settlement. It also alleged that while Sunita has been appearing regularly in court, Govinda has skipped hearings.
However, close friends of the actor dismissed the reports in a conversation with Dainik Bhaskar. Govinda’s manager also said the divorce claims were “just rumours.”
The couple had faced similar speculation six months ago when reports suggested that Sunita had sought divorce and that the two were living separately, with Govinda allegedly linked to a Marathi actress. At the time as well, the actor’s associates had denied the claims.
