Hoshiarpur: Local police have recovered the bodies of an NRI man and his housekeeper woman from a house in Moranwali village.
The deceased were identified as Santosh Singh, 65, a resident of Moranwali who lived in Canada, and Manjit Kaur, 46, a resident of Bath village in Noormahal.
According to police, both victims had multiple sharp weapon injuries on their bodies. The incident is suspected to be several days old as a strong stench was emanating from the house.
The matter came to light on Thursday morning when Manjit Kaur’s daughters entered the house by scaling the wall after finding the gates locked. They discovered the bodies of Santosh Singh and their mother lying inside.
Sandeep Kaur, daughter of the deceased woman, said her mother’s phone was always switched on but went unreachable on Wednesday. “We grew suspicious when the phone was off and my sister kept calling.
A neighbour told us the main gate was locked, the small gate wasn’t opening, and the dog and goats were left unattended. This raised our concern. Later, when the locks were broken, we found the bodies inside,” she said.
On receiving information, SP (D) Dr. Mukesh Kumar, DSP Garhshankar Jaspreet Singh, and SHO Gagandeep Singh Sekhon reached the spot with a police team. The case is under investigation.
