Life in Leh comes to a halt after arrest of activist Sonam Wangchuk

Leh: Life in Leh has come to a standstill following the arrest of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk. Markets remain closed, streets lie deserted, and only paramilitary personnel are seen patrolling the town.

Officials said additional security has been deployed across Leh after Wangchuk was detained on Friday.

Police have set up multiple checkpoints and are closely monitoring the movement of residents and visitors.

Markets that were bustling with tourists just last week now present a deserted look, with only a handful of foreign tourists visible on the streets.
