Ludhiana: Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma has suspended Sub-Inspector Jaspal Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Tibba police station, for negligence in handling complaints by a woman and delaying the registration of a case.
Following the suspension, Singh was sent to the police lines and a departmental inquiry has been ordered against him.
Commissioner Sharma said that six days ago, a woman identified as Dolly, a resident of Jassian Road, approached him with a complaint alleging that her husband had attacked her, leaving her seriously injured. The assault reportedly stemmed from an ongoing marital dispute.
Meanwhile, CP East Sumit Sood said he was not informed about the SHO’s suspension but confirmed that a new SHO has been appointed at Tibba police station.
“I have been instructed by senior officials to summon the woman, record her statement immediately, and ensure justice as per law,” he said.
