New Delhi: A man dressed as a lawyer attempted to throw a shoe at Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai during a hearing in the Supreme Court on Monday. The court staff promptly overpowered the man before he could cause any harm.
As security personnel escorted him out, the man shouted the slogan, “Sanatan ka insult nahi sahega Hindustan.” The incident occurred while a bench headed by CJI Gavai was hearing references to cases by lawyers.
Despite the brief disruption, CJI Gavai remained calm and instructed that the proceedings continue. “Don’t be distracted by all this. Things like that don’t affect me,” he told the lawyers, directing them to carry on with their arguments.
The Supreme Court’s security wing has launched an investigation into the incident. Further details are awaited.
