10 AAP MLAs deny endorsing independent candidate for Punjab Rajya Sabha bypoll, allege signature forgery

Chandigarh: Ten Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs have denied endorsing the candidature of independent candidate Navneet Chaturvedi for the October 24 Rajya Sabha bypoll in Punjab, alleging that their signatures may have been forged.

Earlier, Navneet Chaturvedi had claimed that ten AAP legislators had duly endorsed his nomination and that he had submitted documents of their support along with his nomination papers. The MLAs named by him were Rajnish Dahiya, Naresh Kataria, Sukhbir Singh Maisarkhana, Ranbir Bhullar, Gurlal Singh Ghanaur, Amolak Singh, Manjit Singh Bilaspur, Kulwant Singh Pandori, Gurpreet Singh Vananwali and Kulwant Singh Baazigar.

Chaturvedi had reportedly submitted a letter naming these MLAs to the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat. However, the legislators have now categorically denied extending any such support and have informed AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, party president Aman Arora, and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann about the issue.

The MLAs have expressed serious concern that their signatures might have been forged in the nomination documents.
