“Government misleading public over missing ‘saroops’”, says SGPC chief

Amritsar: The controversy over missing sacred saroops intensified after the five Singh Sahiban reportedly warned the current AAP government against interference. Following allegations by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami accused the CM of misleading the public on the issue.

Notably, the matter was discussed during a gathering of the five Singh Sahiban, where a resolution was passed directing the current government and authorities not to interfere in this internal Sikh matter.

Earlier, on December 7, acting on government orders, the local police registered a case naming 16 individuals, including former and current SGPC officials. A special investigation team has been formed to probe the matter.

Dhami stated that the SGPC would present all facts regarding the missing saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib before the Sangat in a transparent manner.
