People can provide information about organized crime confidentially on Anti-Gangster Helpline No. 93946-93946

Kapurthala News: As per the guidelines issued by the Punjab Government and the orders of the DGP Punjab, the Kapurthala Police launches the ‘War against Gangsters’ campaign on war footing.

Today, under the leadership of SSP Kapurthala Mr. Gaurav Toora, the police launched a special campaign to identify and verify tenants in Mohalla Santpura of Kapurthala city so that organized crime could be curbed more strictly.

On this occasion, Mr. Toora said that the Punjab Police has launched ‘Operation Prahar’ during the last three days, the aim of which was to take strict action against gangsters and other professional criminals.

In today’s campaign, tenants were verified in 12 hot spot areas, for which 46 patrolling parties were deployed.

He said that 566 tenants have been verified, while about 426 documents have also been checked.

During this, 5 unauthorized cars, 12 motorcycles and 19 mobile phones have been seized.

He said that under the campaign against gangsters, action is also being taken against those who are sheltering dangerous criminals and providing any kind of assistance.

He said that activities are going on across the district to completely break the network of gangsters. He said that those who are staying on rent at different places are being identified.

He said that it has been seen that in many cases, house/shop owners rent out their residential and commercial premises, but police verification of the tenants is not done, due to which there is a possibility of misuse of their houses etc.which led to unpleasant incidents.

He appealed to the people to get the police verification done of any tenant they keep, for which a very simple procedure has been implemented by the police.

He said that people can go to the nearest Police Saanjh Kendra and get their tenant police verified, for which the fee is very nominal .

He also said that the Punjab government has started an anti-gangster helpline number 93946-93946, where people can provide information about criminals and gangsters confidentially.
