Shivam Mishra granted bail hours after arrest in VIP Road Lamborghini crash case

New Delhi: A Kanpur court on Thursday granted bail to Shivam Mishra, son of tobacco trader K.K. Mishra, just hours after his arrest in connection with the high-profile Lamborghini accident on VIP Road earlier this week.

Police produced Mishra before the court of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate around 10 am and sought his judicial custody. District Government Counsel (Crime) Dilip Awasthi said the accused was released after furnishing a bail bond of ₹20,000.

Defence counsel Anant Sharma said the police had moved an application seeking Mishra’s remand, but argued that there were several discrepancies in the remand papers submitted before the court.

Accident left several injured

The case relates to a serious crash on VIP Road in Kanpur four days ago, when a speeding Lamborghini Huracan allegedly rammed into multiple vehicles and pedestrians. Several people sustained serious injuries in the incident.

Images of the damaged luxury car had gone viral on social media following the accident, triggering public outrage and intense scrutiny.

During the investigation, questions were raised over who was behind the wheel at the time of the crash. Mishra’s family and lawyer had earlier claimed that the vehicle was being driven by a man identified as Mohan, described as a driver.

Police are continuing their probe into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
