Chandigarh: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has transferred its additional director Ravi Tiwari, who had recently issued summons to former Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh and his son Raninder Singh in a case linked to alleged violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).
Dinesh Pachauri has been appointed as the new additional director in place of Tiwari. Senior officials have described the move as a routine administrative transfer. However, the timing of the order — coinciding with the summons issued to the Captain and his son — has sparked speculation in political circles.
The ED had summoned both Amarinder Singh and Raninder Singh in connection with an ongoing probe into alleged FEMA violations. Neither appeared before the agency. Amarinder Singh is currently hospitalised and undergoing treatment for a knee ailment.
Tiwari had been posted in Jalandhar in September 2023. The central agency is probing a case linked to Raninder Singh, who has earlier been questioned over alleged irregularities involving funds in Switzerland and the formation of the ‘Jacaranda Trust’.
The investigation remains ongoing.
