Indian Sikh woman who married Pakistani man reunites with husband in Pakistan

Lahore: Sarabjit Kaur, also known as Noor Fatima Hussain, who had travelled to Pakistan with a Sikh jatha and later married Pakistani national Nasir Hussain, has now reached her husband’s home, putting an end to speculation about her possible return to India.

Videos that surfaced after her release from a women’s shelter home in Pakistan showed her expressing happiness while speaking to local media. Her husband Nasir Hussain was also present and said the family was “very happy” about her return home.

Speaking to Pakistani media, Sarabjit Kaur said their relationship was not recent and had been continuing for the past eight years. She said that “true love always finds its way” and added that she intends to spend the rest of her life in Pakistan.

Her statement comes amid earlier reports suggesting she could be deported to India. In recent weeks, speculation had grown about her possible return after a video allegedly showed her appealing to come back to India while speaking to her Indian husband. However, she has now indicated that she does not plan to return.

The 52-year-old woman from Kapurthala had travelled to Pakistan in November 2025 with over 1,900 Sikh pilgrims on the occasion of Guru Nanak Dev’s birth anniversary. The group had crossed the Wagah-Attari Border for a 10-day visit and returned to India on November 13. However, Sarabjit Kaur did not return with the jatha, leading to subsequent developments.
