Mansa: A 65-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his son in a late-night attack at Dharampura village near Bareta in Mansa district. The accused also injured his brother before fleeing the scene.
The deceased has been identified as Gurjant Singh, who lived in the village with his wife and son Sukhpal Singh. According to police, the accused — 45-year-old Rai Singh — allegedly entered the house around midnight and attacked his father with a sharp-edged weapon.
Gurjant Singh died on the spot due to severe injuries, while Sukhpal Singh sustained wounds while trying to intervene. He has been admitted to a hospital for treatment.
Bareta police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the law and launched a manhunt to arrest him. The motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained, and further investigation is underway.
