New Delhi (March 24, 2026): Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared key highlights from his address in the Rajya Sabha on the ongoing conflict in West Asia, stressing India’s focus on energy security, economic stability, and the safety of Indian citizens abroad.

The Prime Minister said the war in West Asia has triggered a global energy crisis and disrupted major trade routes, affecting supplies of petrol, diesel, gas, and fertilizers. He expressed serious concern over the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil and trade routes, where several ships, including those with Indian crew members, are currently stranded due to the conflict.

He stated that India is in constant contact with countries in the region, including Iran, Israel, Gulf nations, and the United States, and is pushing for peace through dialogue and diplomacy. He emphasized that attacks on commercial ships and civilian infrastructure are unacceptable and that peaceful dialogue is the only solution to the conflict.
