Two suspected terrorists with Pakistan links held in Punjab, handed over to J&K Police

Chandigarh: Punjab Police, in a joint operation with Jammu and Kashmir Police, has detained two suspected terrorists with alleged links to Pakistan from Malerkotla district.

The suspects, identified as Abu Gaba and Usman, were arrested from Sherwani Kote village, where they had reportedly been living as tenants for several years.

The breakthrough came during the interrogation of a local drug peddler held under the ongoing anti-drug campaign. Police sources said the identities of the two men matched those of wanted terrorists listed in Jammu and Kashmir.

Although no official statement has been issued yet, multiple police sources and local residents have confirmed the operation. Villagers said the duo had been living in different parts of India for over 15 years and had managed to avoid suspicion by posing as Indian nationals.

A team from the CIA wing of Malerkotla conducted the raid and took both suspects into custody before handing them over to Jammu and Kashmir Police for further investigation.

Village sarpanch Simranjit Singh confirmed the police action, stating that two individuals were detained during the raid. However, CIA in-charge Harjinder Singh said he had no information regarding the operation.

Authorities are expected to release more details as the investigation progresses.
