No prior info on Iran strike during Israel visit: Govt on PM Modi’s trip

New Delhi: The government on Thursday informed Parliament that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had no prior knowledge of the military strike on Iran during his visit to Israel on February 25–26.

Responding to a query, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said no discussions related to the attack took place during the visit.

The clarification comes after Israel and the United States carried out joint strikes on Iran on February 28, shortly after the Prime Minister returned to India.

The minister reiterated that India has consistently emphasised dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

“India is closely monitoring the situation in the region. Since the conflict began, the Prime Minister has spoken with leaders of Israel, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United States,” Singh said.

He added that the External Affairs Minister has also been in touch with his counterparts, stressing the need for dialogue and ensuring the safety of civilians.
