New Delhi: Police detained six individuals as a precautionary measure during a demonstration organised by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar, amid concerns over a possible confrontation between rival groups.

Officials said the detentions were made to maintain law and order after authorities received inputs suggesting tensions could arise between supporters and critics of the online movement.

The protest, held under heavy security arrangements on Saturday, was attended by CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke along with a large number of participants, including school and college students and young professionals. Several attendees wore cockroach-themed masks and carried flowers as part of the demonstration.

Ahead of the event, organisers had circulated a list of guidelines for participants, encouraging them to bring the national flag, a book and a flower while attending the gathering.

Police maintained a significant presence at the venue to ensure the protest remained peaceful and to prevent any disruption. Authorities said security measures were intensified following intelligence inputs regarding the possibility of clashes between opposing groups.

Meanwhile, Dipke arrived in Delhi under heightened security arrangements before joining the demonstration. No major untoward incident was reported during the event, officials said.

Police added that the situation remained under control throughout the protest and that preventive action was taken solely to avoid any potential disturbance to public order.
