Washington: Morocco produced a dominant performance to defeat Canada 3-0 in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 16, securing a place in the quarter-finals in emphatic fashion. Midfielder Azzedine Ounahi starred with a brace to lead his side to victory.
The opening half saw both teams create several scoring opportunities, but neither side managed to break the deadlock. Canada made an aggressive start and looked threatening in attack, but Morocco’s disciplined defence and impressive goalkeeping kept the North Americans at bay.
Morocco took control soon after the restart. Ounahi opened the scoring in the 50th minute with a clinical finish to give his side a 1-0 lead.
Canada pushed hard for an equaliser, but their forwards failed to convert the chances they created. Ounahi struck again in the 82nd minute, doubling Morocco’s advantage and putting the result beyond doubt.
Morocco added a third goal in the closing stages to complete a comprehensive 3-0 victory and confirm their place in the quarter-finals.
With the win, Morocco advance to the last eight, where they will face the winner of the Paraguay vs France Round of 16 clash.
