AAP Holds Massive Protest Against Hike in Petrol-Diesel Prices Across Punjab

AAP leaders stage strong demonstrations in Ludhiana, Amritsar and Jalandhar; raise slogans against Modi government policies

Jalandhar News  (May 15, 2026): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged massive protests in Ludhiana, Amritsar and Jalandhar against the policies of the BJP-led central government over the continuous rise in petrol, diesel and LPG cylinder prices.

During the protests, AAP leaders alleged that after the elections in five states, the central government increased the prices of cooking gas and fuel, putting additional financial burden on common people. They also criticized the foreign policy of the Modi government, calling it a failure.

Speaking during the protest in Amritsar, MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that people were already struggling under rising inflation and the latest hike in fuel prices had made life even more difficult for poor and middle-class families. He said the increase in petrol and diesel prices had also pushed up the cost of vegetables and other essential commodities, blaming the central government’s “pro-corporate policies” for the situation.

Addressing protesters in Ludhiana, district president Jatinder Khangura warned the Centre that if the increased prices were not rolled back immediately, AAP would intensify its agitation and continue raising the voice of the people from the streets to Parliament. He said the party has always stood with common citizens and would not tolerate the “loot” of the central government.

In Jalandhar, district president Amritpal Singh said that the BJP government’s wrong policies had pushed people under the burden of inflation. He added that the continuous rise in petrol and diesel prices had badly affected household budgets and increased the cost of daily necessities for every section of society.
