London: England thrashed India by nine wickets in the fourth T20 International at Bristol to seal the five-match series, chasing down a target of 159 with ease in just 13.5 overs.
After being asked to bat first, India managed 158/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Captain Shreyas Iyer was the standout performer, remaining unbeaten on 80 and anchoring the innings as the rest of the batting line-up struggled to build meaningful partnerships.
England’s bowlers kept India under pressure throughout the innings, with Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue claiming two wickets each to restrict the visitors to a below-par total.
In reply, England suffered an early setback when captain Jos Buttler was dismissed for 8, caught by Ishan Kishan off Arshdeep Singh, leaving the hosts at 13/1.
However, Phil Salt and Harry Brook took complete control of the chase, attacking the Indian bowlers from the outset and sharing an unbeaten match-winning partnership to guide England home with more than six overs to spare.
The defeat means India have now lost the series after trailing 0-2, with the opening match having been washed out by rain. It is also India’s second consecutive T20I series defeat, the first time they have suffered back-to-back T20 series losses since 2018-19.
India were forced into two changes for the match due to injuries, bringing in Washington Sundar and Prasidh Krishna in place of Varun Chakravarthy and Harshit Rana. England made one change, with Rehan Ahmed replacing Liam Dawson in the playing XI.
