New Delhi: Data centre specialist AirTrunk has announced plans to invest more than ₹3 lakh crore in India by 2030 as part of its strategy to expand digital infrastructure capacity and strengthen its presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing technology markets.

The investment proposal was highlighted following a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and AirTrunk founder and Chief Executive Officer Robin Khuda. The company also unveiled plans to develop 5 gigawatts (GW) of data centre capacity across India over the coming years.

In a post on social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi said India’s digital infrastructure ecosystem is witnessing rapid growth and described the proposed investment as one of the largest commitments in the country’s data centre sector.

According to the Prime Minister, the planned investment is expected to support the expansion of cloud computing and artificial intelligence capabilities while creating employment opportunities, strengthening local supply chains and accelerating technology-driven innovation.

Modi said the initiative reflects growing global confidence in India’s digital economy and reinforces the country’s emergence as a major destination for technology and infrastructure investments.

AirTrunk, which operates across the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions, develops and manages hyperscale data centre platforms serving cloud service providers, content companies and large enterprise customers.

The company’s proposed expansion in India forms a key part of its global growth strategy as demand for data storage, cloud services and AI infrastructure continues to rise worldwide.

Industry observers believe the investment could significantly boost India’s digital infrastructure capacity and further position the country as a leading global hub for data-driven technologies.
