Amritsar: A tragic accident in Amritsar claimed the lives of two people, including Baba Mukhtar Singh, the chief sevadar of Gurudwara Damdama Sahib Bhindi Aulakh, after the roof of an old house collapsed during demolition work in Saidpur village.
According to reports, Baba Mukhtar Singh and his associates were engaged in dismantling a dilapidated house when the concrete roof suddenly gave way and crashed down. Baba Mukhtar Singh and Ajepal Singh were trapped under the debris and sustained serious injuries.
Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries despite medical efforts.
Baba Mukhtar Singh had been serving at Gurudwara Damdama Sahib Bhindi Aulakh for many years and was widely respected for his dedication to community service. News of his death drew an outpouring of grief, with local residents and well-wishers gathering to offer condolences to the bereaved family.
Former BJP rural Amritsar president Hardayal Singh Aulakh said Baba Mukhtar Singh had devoted his life to helping people and supporting social welfare initiatives. He was known for assisting needy families and actively participating in charitable work.
According to local accounts, Baba Mukhtar Singh had gone to the site after a family requested help in demolishing their old, unsafe house. The family had reportedly offered the debris for community service purposes. During the operation, the structure collapsed, resulting in the fatal accident.
