Gurdaspur: A powerful explosion was reported at a private hospital in Kalanaur town of Punjab’s Gurdaspur district on Tuesday, triggering panic in the area and prompting a major police investigation.
According to officials, the incident occurred at Multani Hospital. While no casualties or injuries were reported, the impact of the blast damaged parts of the building, with window panes and glass doors shattered due to the force of the explosion.
Senior police officers, including district and local police officials, rushed to the scene soon after receiving information about the incident. Security personnel cordoned off the area and began collecting evidence as part of the investigation.
The explosion created fear among local residents, doctors and business owners in the vicinity. Police teams carried out a detailed inspection of the site and are examining all possible angles behind the incident.
Investigators have also obtained CCTV footage from the area. Preliminary visuals reportedly show a suspicious individual moving around the hospital premises for some time before the incident. Authorities are analysing the footage to establish the person’s identity and determine any possible connection to the blast.
Police said efforts are underway to trace those responsible and further details will be shared as the investigation progresses.
