Chandigarh: Amid rising temperatures and intense heatwave conditions in Chandigarh, the UT administration has announced summer vacations in all schools across the city from May 23.
UT Director School Education Nitish Singla issued orders on Thursday evening stating that all schools in Chandigarh will remain closed for summer vacations starting Friday.
According to officials, government schools in Chandigarh had already scheduled summer holidays from May 23. However, many private schools had planned vacations from different dates, with some institutions scheduled to close from May 28 onwards.
Following the latest order, all schools across Chandigarh will now remain closed from May 23 due to the prevailing heat conditions.
The education department has also clarified that no offline or online classes will be conducted for students up to Class 8 during the vacation period.
However, schools may conduct online classes for students of Classes 9 to 12 if required for academic purposes.
