New Delhi: Himanta Biswa Sarma is set to take oath as the Chief Minister of Assam for a second consecutive term on Tuesday.
The swearing-in ceremony is being held at Khanapara Veterinary College Ground in Guwahati.
Along with Himanta Biswa Sarma, four MLAs will also take oath as ministers. The leaders include Rameswar Teli, Atul Bora, Charan Boro and Ajanta Neog.
PM Modi and NDA leaders attend event
Narendra Modi, chief ministers from BJP and NDA-ruled states, along with several Union ministers, are attending the swearing-in ceremony.
Tipra Motha chief extends support
Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma said he had been invited to the ceremony and expressed hope that the new government would work not only for Assam but for the entire Northeast region.
Debbarma said he had worked closely with Himanta Biswa Sarma in the past and noted that both leaders had earlier been part of the Congress party together.
He also wished Sarma success for his new term in office.
