Jalandhar: A proud moment for Punjab’s cricketing circles as 21-year-old Krish Bhagat from Jalandhar has earned a place in the Mumbai Indians squad.
Krish began playing cricket at the age of six in local grounds and gradually honed his skills through school and club-level matches. His consistent performances later at the state level and in domestic tournaments, including the Ranji Trophy, helped him rise through the ranks.
Coming from a business family, Krish is the first in his household to pursue a career in sports. His father Ashwani Bhagat said in media interview that the family never imagined he would reach such heights, crediting his mother for encouraging him to take up sports from a young age.
His journey, however, was not without setbacks. He once earned selection for an Under-19 World Cup camp but missed out due to injury. Despite the disappointment, he continued to work hard and stay focused on his goal.
Before joining Mumbai Indians, Krish was associated with Royal Challengers Bangalore as a net bowler.
His selection in the Mumbai Indians squad is being seen as a major breakthrough, with coaches hopeful that he could soon represent India at the international level.
