Amritsar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Punjab president Kewal Singh Dhillon and the party’s national general secretary and newly elected Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Chugh visited Amritsar on Thursday, where they received a warm welcome from party workers before paying obeisance at the Golden Temple.
The two leaders led a foot march from Bhandari Bridge to the shrine and offered prayers for peace, prosperity and development in Punjab and across the country.
Addressing the media, Tarun Chugh announced that the BJP would contest all 117 Assembly seats in Punjab independently in the next state elections. He said the party was committed to strengthening its organisation and expanding its reach across the state.
Chugh also announced that senior BJP leader Nitin Naveen will visit Punjab on June 20 to formally launch the party’s new political campaign from Amritsar.
He said the party was drawing inspiration from the teachings of Guru Ram Das and Guru Ravidas and would move forward with a renewed vision for Punjab. Chugh expressed concern over issues such as drug abuse, gangster activity, corruption and law-and-order challenges, alleging that the current state government had failed to address them effectively.
Punjab BJP chief Kewal Singh Dhillon said the party would continue working to strengthen its grassroots network and raise public issues across the state.
Chugh further stated that the BJP aims to steer Punjab towards development, employment generation and improved security. Referring to Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s legacy, he said the party envisions a governance model based on law, equal opportunities and inclusive growth.
