Chandigarh: Bhagwant Mann has issued strict directions to district officials to complete all flood-prevention measures ahead of the upcoming monsoon, warning that any negligence will invite personal accountability.
Chairing a high-level review meeting, the Chief Minister instructed Deputy Commissioners to ensure immediate desilting of drains and vulnerable points to strengthen water management systems before the rains begin.
Focus on timely action and coordination
Mann stressed that cleaning of drains and rivers must be carried out in close coordination with irrigation department engineers to ensure long-term flood control. He emphasised the need for a well-planned and effectively implemented master plan across Punjab.
Balbir Singh Seechewal was also present during the meeting, where officials were asked to accelerate pollution control efforts and fast-track pending infrastructure projects.
