New Delhi: In another major blow to consumers across the country, oil marketing companies on Tuesday increased petrol and diesel prices by an average of 90 paise per litre.
The latest hike comes amid soaring international crude oil prices triggered by the ongoing conflict in West Asia, with the impact now directly being felt by Indian consumers.
Following the revision, petrol prices in New Delhi rose by 87 paise from ₹97.77 to ₹98.64 per litre, while diesel became costlier by 91 paise and is now retailing at ₹91.58 per litre.
Fuel prices also witnessed a sharp rise in other major cities across the country.
In Mumbai, petrol prices climbed by 91 paise to ₹107.59 per litre, while diesel increased by 94 paise to ₹94.08 per litre.
Kolkata recorded the steepest increase of 96 paise, taking petrol prices to ₹109.70 per litre.
Similarly, petrol prices touched ₹104.49 per litre in Chennai and ₹108.91 per litre in Jaipur following the latest revision.
