‘Won Bengal, now we will win Punjab’: BJP launches outreach campaign in Amritsar

Amritsar: Ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party has intensified its political activities in the border state and decided to go all out to strengthen its position in Punjab.

As part of this strategy, BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh has been sent to Punjab with what the party described as a special message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to Chugh, Modi’s message to party workers was: “We won Bengal, now we will win Punjab.”

On Tuesday morning, Tarun Chugh held a street-corner meeting in Amritsar with hundreds of BJP workers and local residents.

Photographs shared by the BJP national headquarters showed the Amritsar-born leader preparing and serving tea to party workers during the programme.

Speaking to reporters, Chugh said the party used the “Chai Pe Charcha” interaction to take Prime Minister Modi’s message directly to the people.

The event was organised at one of Amritsar’s oldest tea stalls, a place Chugh described as personally significant for his political journey.

Recalling his early years in student politics, Chugh said that around 40 years ago he began his social and political life from the same tea stall while participating in student politics linked to DAV College and the central assembly.

He added that the BJP is now beginning a new wave of political change in Punjab “with the same cup of tea.”
