New Delhi: A court in Gurugram on Monday sent Sanjeev Arora to 14 days of judicial custody in a money-laundering case being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate.
The ED produced the Punjab cabinet minister before the court after completion of his custodial interrogation. Following the hearing, the court ordered that Arora be sent to jail till June 1.
Arora had remained in ED custody for nearly nine days. During the investigation, the agency had also accused him of not cooperating fully with the probe.
The ED had arrested Arora on May 9 under provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). He was initially sent to seven days of ED remand, which was later extended by another two days.
The Aam Aadmi Party leader had also approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court challenging his arrest.
Following his arrest, the ruling AAP had organised protests across Punjab against the ED’s action.
