New Delhi: A team of the Enforcement Directorate on Monday carried out raids at the shop and residence of prominent jeweller Kulwant Singh and his son Bikram Singh Bunty linked to Sardar Jewellers.
According to sources, the action was initiated in connection with a major and suspicious financial transaction allegedly linked to the jeweller.
Sources said the latest raids are also being connected to an earlier ED operation conducted at the premises of a close relative of Kulwant Singh in Rajouri Garden.
The ED team reportedly reached the locations around 9 am and immediately began examining records and seizing documents related to the investigation.
Given the seriousness of the case and the possibility of recovery of large amounts of cash, officials also requisitioned a currency-counting machine from a local bank during the search operation.
The raids were still underway at the time of filing the report.
