Chandigarh: Punjab State Election Commission has announced general elections for members of four municipal councils in Punjab, including Municipal Council Dinanagar, Municipal Council Gurdaspur, Municipal Council Qadian and Municipal Council Sham Churasi.
According to the election schedule issued by the commission, the filing of nomination papers will begin on May 28 between 11 am and 3 pm at the offices of the concerned returning officers.
The last date for submission of nominations has been fixed as June 1 till 3 pm, while scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on June 2. Candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nominations till 3 pm on June 3.
Polling for the four municipal councils will be conducted on June 10 from 8 am to 4 pm. Counting of votes will begin immediately after polling on the same day.
The commission also announced that the Model Code of Conduct has come into force with immediate effect in the areas where elections are scheduled and will remain applicable till the completion of the election process.
