Punjab student dies in road accident in Australia’s Perth

Perth: A 19-year-old student from Ludhiana died in a road accident in Perth, leaving her family in grief back home in Punjab.

The deceased, identified as Komalpreet Kaur, was a resident of Kalsian village near Halwara. She had gone to Australia for nursing studies and was also working part-time alongside her education. Her father, Amrik Singh, is a retired Subedar.

According to reports, Komalpreet was returning home on foot after completing her night shift late on Saturday night when a speeding car hit her in the Canning Vale area.

The impact of the collision was severe and she sustained critical injuries.

Police said the accident took place around 11:30 pm near John Street on Albany Highway at the Bentley Plaza car park, where a blue Hyundai i30 allegedly struck her.

She was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital in an ambulance, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
