Chandigarh: Senior leader and founding member of Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) Surjit Singh Rakhra is reportedly preparing to join the ruling Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab.

According to political sources, Rakhra is expected to contest the next Assembly election from his native Samana constituency on an AAP ticket.

Sources claimed that discussions between the Rakhra family and Bhagwant Mann have already taken place and an understanding has been reached informally.

The meeting is said to have taken place around a week ago.

Though there has been no official confirmation so far, reports suggest that Bhagwant Mann may personally visit Rakhra’s residence ‘Kartar Villa’ in Patiala in the coming days to formally induct him into the party.
