Chandigarh: The Punjab government on Wednesday transferred four IAS officers despite the Model Code of Conduct being in force for upcoming local body elections in the state.
According to official orders issued by the state government, IAS officer Ramvir has been appointed Divisional Commissioner, Jalandhar.
He has also been given charge as secretary of the Water Supply and Sanitation Department.
Ghanshyam Thori gets additional responsibilities
IAS officer Ghanshyam Thori has been appointed secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department and Mission Director of the National Health Mission, Punjab.
He has additionally been assigned charge of secretary, Medical Education and Research Department.
Punit Goyal gets Information and Public Relations role
Punit Goyal has been posted as Special Secretary, Information and Public Relations Department, along with the responsibility of Director, Information and Public Relations.
Akshita Gupta appointed ADC Rupnagar
Meanwhile, Akshita Gupta has been appointed Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Rupnagar.
The transfers come at a time when the state is preparing for municipal elections scheduled later this month.
